This is the Best Time to Get Your Flu Shots as Flu Season is Fast Approaching

With winter drawing near, public health doctors are saying that this is the best time to get flu shots. Flu vaccines administered during this period would certainly last through to spring.

However, there is bad news for kids who have avoided the needle last year. Many parents whose children are too petrified to get the needle shots usually use the Flu Mist nasal spray as the alternative. This year however, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention said to not use the nasal spray anymore. The CDC determined that this method did not work last year.

According to the CDC, last flu season’s records show that the nasal spray’s effectivity among children between 2 to 17 was only at 3 percent.  The CDC said that “no protective benefit could be measured.”

Standard flu shots on the other hand shows a 63 percent effectiveness between the same age group.

Dr. Matt Zahn, medical director at the Orange County Health Care Agency said, “We know that this year some kids who were getting the nasal vaccine in the past will be getting a shot. You have to go with what works.”

Best time to take the shots

The Flu shot can take about two weeks to reach full immunity. With this regard, the CDC advised everyone age 6 months or older to have their flu shots taken before September. Dr. Ben Schwartz acting director for acute communicable disease control program for the LA County Department of Public Health said. “If you’re going to the pharmacy to pick something up, while you’re there, get vaccinated. If you’re going to the doctor for an annual check-up, while you’re there, get vaccinated.”

This year’s flu shot include two new strains, which offers protection to H1N1 as well as influenza A and B.

CDC says that about 5 to 20 percent of Americans acquire the flu each year. About 3,000 to 49,000 of those will die of complications. “Every year, thousands of people will die of influenza in the U.S.,” Zahn said. “We’ve come to accept it but we don’t have to.”

Kanye West Leaves Meadows Festival Concert to Rush to Kim Kardashian who was held at Gunpoint in Paris

Five unidentified men, two disguised as police robbed Kim Kardashian in their luxury residence near Madeleine Church in Paris France. Robbers took more than $10 million worth of jewelries around 3 am on Monday.

Kim attended the Givenchy show in the Paris Fashion Week with her mother, Kris Jenner. The two dined together in an affair arranged by Tunisian-born couturier Azzedine Alaia hours before the robbery, according to RTL France. Kim even posted a snap chat post to her future sister-in-law Blac Chyna, an hour before the robbery.

The gunmen entered the private residence, handcuffed the concierge and at gunpoint prodded him to lead them into Kardashian’s room. This is according to off the record statements of police authorities.

The suspects stormed into Kardashian’s room and tied her in the bathroom before taking her valuables, mostly jewelries. The men took Kim’s jewelry box containing jewelries no less than $6.7 million and a ring worth $4.4 million. The suspects escaped using bikes as run away vehicles. They are still on the loose, authorities said.

Fortunately Kim and Kanye’s children, North and Saint were not at the same room during the heist. According to a Daily News source no people were reportedly hurt. Nevertheless, Kim’s was left dazed by the incident. A source said, “She is badly shaken but physically unharmed.”

Paris police had not released any official statements. Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo slammed the heist and said to the Kardashians they are “always welcome in Paris.” The Mayor also said such incidence is “rare” in a private residence in Paris. In a statement she said, “I have every confidence in the police force.” She further added that the criminals identities and subsequent arrest are forthcoming.

Kanye cuts short concert

Meanwhile, Kanye West unceremoniously stopped a sold out concert in Queens during the Meadows festival. West said, “I’m sorry. Family emergency. I have to stop the show”.

The audience said an assistant suddenly pulled aside the “Famous” artist while he performed “Heartless”, a 2008 hit song. He stopped the music, dropped the microphone and ran off stage.

Fans bought concert tickets with price ranging from $120 to $260 and were understandably disappointed to leave the concert early.

Twitter Joe Berg said, “Dude just ran on stage and grabbed Kanye and he said, ‘Sorry guys, family emergency I have to leave the show’ and just ran off the stage”.

Meadows Festival officials released a statement that reads, “Kanye West was forced to end his performance towards the end of his set. We appreciate the great show he put for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows Festival. Our thoughts are with West and his family.”

Clinton Promises to Hit Back Against Foreign Hackers

The United States will act in response to foreign hacking the same as any other attack to its sovereignty, vows Hillary Clinton.

There are legitimate questions as to how the US government should defend itself after a cyber attack. As of the moment, the Obama administration is still writing its rulebook.

Identifying who’s responsible remains to be a challenge as there are a number of usual suspects. These range from bored teenagers to cybercriminals and foreign hackers. Making it more difficult is the fact that experienced hackers can cover their tracks and also lead security experts astray.

Cybersecurity experts were surprised when Clinton made aggressive remarks about retaliating with political, economic or even military measures. Her aggressive strategy propositions ran against the State Departments policy of avoiding open conflict since it may muddle diplomatic efforts.

When asked during the presidential debate how she would respond to cyberattacks, Clinton said, “We’re going to have to make it clear that we don’t want to use the kinds of tools that we have. We don’t want to engage in a different kind of warfare. But we will defend the citizens of this country.”

Cybersecurity was at the forefront of the national security segment of the presidential debate for the first time. This thereby proves its current political significance. It also highlights the fact that the next president will influence the 21st century cyberwarfare policies. This includes establishing rules on how the US responds to foreign hackers.

While Trump has not issued any official position on the subject, Clinton confronts the matter in one and a half pages of her 288-page campaign book.

Just recently, in the midst of the presidential race, there were a rash of hacks on government sites. Cybersecurity firms, Democrats and Clinton blamed these attacks on Russia. The White House is struggling over how to counter hacking. Some officials said it was an attempt to undermine voter confidence in the election.

Still learning the ropes

Former general counsel for the National Security Agency said that they are in the very early stages of developing the rules by the benefit of the attacks that they saw.

He added that responding is a challenge: “How do you know who’s responsible for the attack and to what extent are the cyber actors even susceptible to the normal responses like economic or diplomatic pressure?”

Clinton’s stand on cybersecurity started while she was with the State Department. At that time, she created the Office of the Coordinator for Cyber Issues to handle diplomacy and cyber rules.

According to Christopher Painter, who served as the office’s coordinator since its launch, there was no other office in the world like it when it was created 5 years ago.
