This election year the Town of Warren, RI is voting to remove a position from the town government. With the assumption that the vote will pass, no one decided to run for the Town Moderator position.
When Ben DeCastro learned this, he felt it was his patriotic duty to run. He decided to announce his write-in candidacy with a viral video. In this video he staged a mock press conference in front of his house, complete with zoomed out shots of the empty lawn with nobody present.
While the video make seem to some as a joke, we reached out to DeCastro to see if he would fulfill the duties of the position if elected. “Absolutely”, he said.
In the last election there were 52 write-in votes for Town Moderator. As of this writing the video has received 10,000 views, 119 shares, and 46 comments.
